8 Legitimate reasons you should NOT get into boating

You’ve seen this happen – your friends, family members, and random strangers decide to purchase a boat; granting them access to the boating world and lifestyle. This doesn’t just occur with people you actually кnow. There are millions of people all over the world who decide to get into the practice of boating. But why? The drawbacks of it are quite alarming, making it seem like a no-brainer on why you should avoid this at all costs. Here they are…

1. You will never see your friends

What type of friends would want to join you on a boat that offers rafting, inner tubing, skiing, cliff jumping, and day-drinking? With so much activity and endless fun…who would want such a thing?

2. The thirst is never-ending

You’ll be in that warm sunshine all day long, possibly hopping from one boat to the next, making new friends, meeting new people with the same interests as you, and diving into that refreshing water day in and day out. The drawback? You are going to be so thirsty all of the time that you will NEED to gather up coolers of ice-cold beers and your favorite wine for when the sun sinks below the horizon. Does that sound like fun to you?

3. There are no views

Speaking of a breathtaking sunset every single night while out on your boat, you will probably NEVER see glorious blue skies, soaring mountains, or even a picturesque sandy beach to explore. Watching television all day would be much more entertaining.

4. You cannot ever leave the boat

Well, there is also the fact that you could take up scuba diving, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, or simply sunbathing on a float instead. Where’s the fun in that?

5. Say goodbye to good food

Oh, except that you can always pack a cooler full of deliciously pre-made meals to pair right alongside that deliciously refreshing brew. Or your boat may even have a full kitchen or a grill where even more people will want to join you and your boating excursions – meaning you’ll make new friends. Who enjoys that?

6. There is never a challenge

Sailing through rough waters, deciding how you’re going to get from point A to point B, and navigating through the wide-open sea? Easy and definitely not a challenge whatsoever.

7. It is way too stressful

You have to put it in the water, and you have to take it out of the water. Then, you have to anchor it so that you can sit there all day in the warm sunshine, drinking beer, and maybe even meeting some attractive boaters that pass by. Boring!

8. It is the most expensive activity on earth

There is absolutely NO way to rent a boat for the day or even hop on your local ads website and find incredible deals on a perfectly conditioned boat that you’ve been dreaming about for years. There is no way.

So we may have lied…

The only no-brainer here is the fact that you should have gotten into boating years ago! Meet some fantastic people, join a sailing competition, discover new places all over the world, and work on your beer-drinking skills – it’s all part of the boating lifestyle! Because after all, there are dozens of reasons why you SHOULD get into boating and absolutely zero why you should not.
